Red Lips, with confidence.

I watched a tutorial by Ali Andreea Make up artist on how to make your lips look bigger.  No, I don’t want to Kim Kardashian myself, I want to wear bold colours without looking like a thin-lipped weirdo. After watching the tutorial – with many many things I would never do myself (cause I just don’t have that many products yet), I finally had the guts to give it a try.
I have a GORGEOUS red from Rimmel that I used to wear all the time a few years ago, but having kids and getting older has dimmed my confidence in the bold lip area.
Until I saw the tips on Ali Andreea’s YouTube and thought, “oh, that’s not that complicated?!”  I also took a leaf from my friend Rone at Ma’am who said if you want bold lipstick to stay on longer, use a nude as a base!
Here is the result.

These are the products I used for the lips.  I first lined the lips with the Woolworths lip liner in Retractable lipliner in Red Cherry, using the tip in the video by going over the edge of the top lips at the cupids bow only and then drawing down to the natural lip line.  Then on the bottom lips also going over the natural lip line in the center of the bottom lip and drawing the line back gradually to the natural lip line.
Nude lipstick applied on top of that in Rimmel Lasting Finish By Kate no 43.
Then a generous application of the Rimmel lasting finish lipstick in no 170 Alarm.

I was so impressed with the result!
I am now confident to wear bold colours again and not feel intimidated by it.  I can now go and get some other bold colours for winter and wear them with confidence!
